Overview
CDI College has been training Canadians since 1969. For over 40 years, the school offers career education that open many doors, in more than 55 diverse programs with emphasis on business, technology and healthcare. Focusing on developing the crucial skills graduates need to enter their chosen career fields, the courses combine classroom-based theory with practical application to help graduates emerge with a broad knowledge base and the desired skill set for their chosen careers. CDI, as one of Canada's premiere career-training providers, continues to provide superior education geared toward a successful and long-term career, for both students beginning their training or looking for professional advancement through continued education.
Student Appeal
The programs and courses are developed with input from experts in the business, technology and healthcare fields to meet the standards of the business, technology and healthcare industries for both local and national job markets, offering students the most current skills and abilities required by employers in these fields. The instructors enhance the curricula with years of professional, field experience, as well as one-on-one attention because the classes are smaller than at other schools. Students receive hands-on training using many of the same tools and equipment used by professionals in their fields, and work on projects that prepare them for challenges faced on the job.
Financial
Financial assistance is available for those who qualify, including Provincial Government Student Assistance and RBC Royal Credit Line for Students. The College also offers scholarships occasionally for specific programs to eligible students.
- Accounting and Payroll SpecialistAccounting and Payroll Specialist
Students develop skills in general accounting, payroll and bookkeeping with a distinct emphasis on accounting software. They learn the latest versions of Simply Accounting, AccPac and QuickBooks Pro, as well as common applications such as Excel, Access, MS Word and Outlook in this 45-week program.
- Accounting Assistant/BookkeeperAccounting Assistant/Bookkeeper
This 30-week curriculum covers the latest versions of Simply Accounting, AccPac and QuickBooks Pro, in addition to a full set of computer applications that are required to compete in a competitive job market, from MS Excel to Outlook, fully preparing participants for careers in bookkeeping and accounting.

Students of this program gain the most relevant, up-to-date skills in order to succeed in business management and administration, refining the accounting, computer, and project management abilities they need to excel in any office environment through courses including marketing, business essentials, and effective business writing.
- Business Office Assistant Business Office Assistant
Designed to develop students' skills for the modern office environment, this program provides advanced training in the Microsoft suite and related Microsoft business software, plus general business skills and comprehensive bookkeeping skills over the 36-week course.
- Business Office Software Specialist Business Office Software Specialist
Over this 24-week program, students become proficient with the Microsoft Office suite, MS Project management software, and other related Microsoft business software in preparation for all office administration tasks, including creating flow charts, graphs and diagrams.
- Computer Service/Network Technician Computer Service/Network Technician
This track provides relevant training and opportunities for students planning to enter IT-related careers, with coursework instructing students to diagnose, install, upgrade, convert, support LANs, resolve warranty/service issues and coordinate purchases and training. Specific preparation for the A+ exams, Security, Cisco CCNA, and Microsoft Windows 2003 MCSA exams are featured. Graduates are qualified for employment positions in computer service, network administration, network design, and other IT fields.
- Information Systems - Internet Developer Information Systems - Internet Developer
Students learn to write and manage web development and programming code, update and troubleshoot existing code, as well as assessing business needs and creating effective solutions. They gain competency in Microsoft Visual C#, .NET, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Access, and SQL Server, plus application of VB Script, HTML, ASP, DHTML, XML, ASP.NET, Dreamweaver MX, Photoshop, Flash MX (with ActionScript) and ColdFusion, culminating in a 200-hour work placement program.
- Information Systems - Network Engineer Information Systems - Network Engineer
Students can complete this hands-on program in two years or 12 months (via fast track). They learn to provide effective frontline hardware or software support to a variety of PC users, focusing on developing IT/networking skills for Microsoft Network, Cisco Networking and Network Security, while preparing for Microsoft MCP, MCSA and MCSE certification.
- Information Systems - Programmer Analyst Information Systems - Programmer Analyst
This program offers instruction to prepare and write programming code and manage, maintain and update existing programming code, enabling enrollees to excel in roles such as computer programmer, software development programmer, or programmer analyst. The coursework develop proficiency in Microsoft Visual C#, .NET, OOP, OOD, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Office, SQL Server, ADO.NET, XML, HTML, Visio, Script, ASP.NET, and Web Services, plus Object-Oriented Programming using either Java or C++, culminating with a 200-hour work placement program.

Essential skills for working in a medical office environment are featured in this 36-week curriculum. Students gain expertise with bookkeeping, payroll and accounting software, while developing general business abilities and comprehensive medical office skills. Graduates often seek healthcare jobs as medical office receptionist, medical file clerk, medical transcriptionist, and many other options.

Through coursework covering fundamental office procedures and technology such as information processing, business procedures, keyboarding, and Microsoft Word and Excel programs, in combination with medical office-specific skills like human anatomy, medical terminology, and medical machine transcription, graduates gain the expertise necessary to become prospective medical office assistants.
- Paralegal - Advocate Paralegal - Advocate
This 12-month program prepares students in the essential areas of the paralegal profession through practical training that encompassed the legal system, torts, contracts, employment law, residential landlord and tenant law, provincial offenses and motor vehicle offenses. They also learn various court and tribunal procedures and practices, including evidence gathering, litigation, small claims court, and criminal/summary conviction procedure in preparation for the Law Society's Paralegal Licensing exam. Graduates typically seek employment with law firms, banks and financial institutions, insurance companies, government, debt collection, private practice, corporate legal departments, courts and legal clinics.
- Pharmacy AssistantPharmacy Assistant
As prospective pharmacy assistants, students of this comprehensive 45-week program learn about basic pharmacology, drug and medical terminology, pharmacy computer systems, hospital and community pharmacy practices and procedures, drug dosage calculations, compounding labs, ethics, legislation, personal conduct and workplace safety. Also, field placement in a community pharmacy is available.
