The objective of this degree program is to provide basic knowledge and skills in areas of therapeutic massage to prepare students to pursue entry-level employment as Massage Therapists. Coursework in the program includes instruction in a variety of massage techniques and modalities, as well as basic anatomy, physiology, pathology and kinesiology. Coursework also includes introductory massage business principles and billing. The program is also designed to instruct students in legal and ethical aspects of massage.

This program includes a Licensure Examination Review course to assist students preparing to take the Massage & Bodywork Licensing Examination (MBLEX), provided by the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards (FSMTB). Successful completion of this exam is required in order to apply for licensure to practice massage therapy in Florida. However, the College cannot guarantee a student's eligibility to take the exam, that they will pass the exam, or become licensed by the Florida Board of Massage Therapy. The program is designed to prepare students with a variety of skills including troubleshooting, analyzing, designing and implementing upgrades on popular network operating systems, as well as computer maintenance and repair. Coursework is also geared towards preparing students to define, analyze and find system resolutions along with making enhancements to network operating systems.

The mission of the Health Insurance Billing and Coding Program is to provide students with the medical and technical knowledge necessary to perform manual and computerized tasks expected of medical billers and coders in today's healthcare industry. Students gain an understanding of the ethics and legal issues of the allied health professions.

The objective of this program is to provide students with introductory knowledge in both technical and administrative skills. The program is designed to prepare students for entry-level administrative positions such as medical office managers, executive medical administrative assistants, hospital admissions coordinators, medical record managers, and entry level administrative positions in clinics, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities.

This degree level program provides students with general education courses as well as program specific coursework in areas including: medical terminology, computer applications, processing of medical records, billing and insurance forms. The curriculum is designed to provide students with the knowledge and understanding of the health industry laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and regulatory bodies that govern the healthcare professions, such as HIPAA, OSHA, and JCAHO. Courses also provide students with the opportunity to demonstrate effective communication, customer relations, and organizational and administrative skills.

The objective of this degree program is to prepare students with the knowledge and technical skills to pursue entry-level employment as a Medical Office Administrator in various medical settings such as medical offices, clinics, and hospitals. The program encompasses a general understanding of the components of both Medical Assisting and Medical Coding & Billing responsibilities. Students are trained in front office procedures, such as handling patient accounts and records, word processing, and scheduling of patients. Students are also trained in back office procedures, such as taking vital signs, preparing patients for medical procedures, assisting the physician with examinations and treatments, and performing selected diagnostic tests, as directed by the physician. This program also provides training in basic medical laboratory and X-ray procedures. Additionally, students are instructed in medical documentation and terminology, as well as assign and sequence diagnostic and procedural codes using universally recognized coding systems.

Courses also provide students with an initial foundation in e-commerce, security and analysis.

The program is designed to introduce students to both technical and theoretical concepts with the main focus on hair cutting, shaving and design. Barbers use their skills for entry level work in various settings, such as barbershops or in a salon environment.

Prior to graduation, students are required to complete the full 1200 hours of training and a State Board Preparation course to help prepare them for the Florida State Licensure examination. Successful completion of the examination is required in order to apply for a Restricted Barber License in Florida. As a restricted barber you are authorized to perform haircuts and styles, including the application of hair tonics and hair spray. A restricted barber is allowed to perform full facial shaves; mustache and beard trimming; shampooing, conditioning and blow drying hair; and scalp treatments and facials. A restricted barber is not allowed to apply any other chemical preparations or solutions to the hair. However, the College cannot guarantee a student's eligibility to take the exam, or that they will pass the exam, or become licensed. The mission of the Clinical Skin Care Program is to provide comprehensive training and practice in skin care treatment that prepares students to enter the workforce as a skin care practitioner.

The objective of this program is to provide students with the knowledge and technical skills necessary to pursue entry-level employment as Computer Network Technicians. This program is designed to include every phase of the networking process, from analyzing system requirements to setting up, administering, maintaining, supporting, and troubleshooting computer network systems for today's busy offices. The program curriculum includes instruction in the servicing of computers and peripheral equipment, as well as basic network systems and computer repair and maintenance.

The objective of this program is to provide students with the knowledge and technical skills necessary to pursue entry-level employment as Computer Repair Technicians. This program is designed to provide students with instruction and hands-on training in areas such as: analyzing system requirements, maintaining and troubleshooting network systems, and servicing computers and peripheral equipment. The coursework includes both hardware and software components, and students are given the opportunity to practice their skills in College using modern equipment in curriculum specific classrooms.

The objective of the Cosmetology Program is to provide students with the knowledge, skills and practical hands-on experience to pursue entry-level employment as professional Cosmetologists. Florida Career College's experienced faculty uses modern equipment and professional grade supplies to train students for a career in the cosmetology industry. The program is taught in curriculum specific classrooms and our practical training areas were designed to replicate a real-world cosmetology work environment. The curriculum is intended to develop students' technical skills, as well as offer personal professional development. Areas of instruction include a wide range of beauty services, such as: hair cutting, hair coloring, hair extensions, cleaning and styling wigs, manicures, pedicures, artificial nails, facials and waxing.

The objective of this program is to provide students with the knowledge and technical skills necessary to pursue entry-level employment in the heating, ventilation and air conditioning field, which includes selling, installing and maintaining residential equipment. The program is designed to provide students with instructions and hands-on training in areas such as: installation, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting and basic design of refrigeration heating and air conditioning systems along with a focus on service operations. The curriculum includes hands-on lab simulations to help prepare students for field service work typically performed by installation technicians, shop service technicians, repair technicians, and apprentice mechanics. The 9-month HVAC program includes preparation for two important certifications for HVAC professionals: (1) EPA Section 608 Certification for Stationary Air Conditioning and Refrigeration and (2) Universal R-410A Safety Training & Certification. Achieving EPA 608 Certification is a program completion requirement. The R-410A certification is not a program completion requirement, but is strongly encouraged.

Residential/Commerical HVAC - 12 months

The objective of this program is to provide students with the knowledge and technical skills necessary to pursue entry-level employment in the heating, ventilation and air conditioning field, which includes selling, installing and maintaining residential equipment. The program is designed to provide students with instructions and hands-on training in areas such as: installation, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting and basic design of refrigeration heating and air conditioning systems along with a focus on service operations. The curriculum includes hands-on lab simulations to help prepare students for field service work typically performed by installation technicians, shop service technicians, repair technicians, and apprentice mechanics. The 12-month HVAC program provides, in addition to all the training covered in the 9 month program above, supplemental instruction specific to commercial applications in the HVAC industry. These commercial applications include, among other topics: low and high-pressure boilers, balancing and testing air systems, and commercial chillers and other equipment. The 12-month HVAC program includes working towards two important certifications for HVAC professionals: (1) EPA Section 608 Certification for Stationary Air Conditioning and Refrigeration and (2) Universal R-410A Safety Training & Certification. Achieving EPA 608 Certification is a program completion requirement. The R-410A certification is not a program completion requirement, but is strongly encouraged.

The objective of the Nail Care Specialist program is to provide students with a foundation of knowledge in both technical and theoretical concepts. The program has been designed to prepare students to pursue entry level positions as a nail care specialists in various salon or spa environments, including hotels, resorts and cruise lines. The Nail Care Specialist program curriculum includes training to develop a range of skills including, manicures, pedicures and acrylic nails. The program also includes introductory business marketing and retail sales training applicable to Nail Care Specialist. The nail care curriculum was designed to meet the requirements of the State of Florida and help prepare the student for licensure as a Nail Technician.

The objective of this program is to provide students with the knowledge and technical skills needed to pursue entry-level employment in the health care industry as Patient Care Technicians. Students in the Patient Care Technician program are instructed in, among other things, patient assistance, geriatric care and nursing assistance. With a focus on patient care skills and life-long learning, graduates of this Diploma Program will be positioned to have the skills and dispositions needed to effectively meet workplace demands.

Prior to graduation, students are required to complete a 6-week clinical rotation in a health care setting, which provides hands-on training in the field. Clinical sites require students to have completed a criminal background check and medical examination and may also require a drug screen, proof of immunizations or other requirements.

Qualified graduates may take the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) state certification exam through the Florida Board of Nursing or the National Certified Patient Care Technician (NCPCT) exam offered by the National Center for Competency Training (NCCT). However, the College cannot guarantee a student's eligibility to take these exams, pass these exams or that they will become licensed by the Florida Board of Nursing. The Skin and Nail Care Specialist program curriculum includes training to develop a range of skills, including facials, facial massage, makeup, hair removal techniques, manicures, pedicures and acrylic nails. The program includes introductory business marketing and retail sales training applicable to Skin and Nail Care Specialists. The skin and nail care program curriculum was designed to meet the requirements of the State of Florida to prepare the student for licensure as a Full Specialist.
