Overview
First established as a private college in 1847 by Christian minister and physician Dr. Lewis L. Pinkerton, Midway College is Kentucky's only college for women and a forerunner in coeducational adult accelerated learning, empowering undergraduate and graduate students as leaders through a professionally-oriented liberal arts education. With campuses in Lexington, Midway, and Radcliff, Kentucky, the school offers Associate, Baccalaureate, and Master's degrees in Business, Equine Studies, Nursing, and Teacher Education, all of which are renowned throughout the Bluegrass State and beyond. Midway College has a very rich history of preparing graduates with knowledge required in their professional field, and has undergone many changes over the past 160-plus years to become an institution that serves underserved populations, while continuing to create maintain a student-centered intellectual environment that supports leadership development.
Student Appeal
In addition to traditional day classes, Midway College offers evening and weekend programs. Curricula are designed to accommodate career adults, as the average student is 37 years old and balances life, job, family, and coursework demands, with five- to eight-week evening and weekend classes available to accelerate earning a degree. Classes average a 13:1 student-to-faculty ratio, ensuring sufficient and personal attention to the enrollees.
Financial
Financial aid is available for eligible students from private, government, institutional, and community sources, including Federal Direct PLUS Loan and Federal Pell Grant.

This two-year degree emphasizes equine and business management, providing the fundamentals necessary to step into an entry-level position in the equine industry. Students acquire expertise to handle a variety of horses, as well as study horse science, introductory record keeping and business management.

This program explores the primary responsibility of designing, developing and supporting business-related software and systems in a business environment. The coursework are designed for students intending to enter the business-related computer job market at the junior level, and those who are pursuing a baccalaureate degree in another discipline, usually business and/or organizational administrative leadership, but who wish to also earn an associate's degree in Computer Information Systems. Graduates are able to identify and develop ways of using computer-technological resources to help a business stay competitive in a global economy.

The curriculum for this nursing major has a dual focus—team-oriented classroom theory emphasizing the technical and theoretical aspects of nursing, and concentrated, supervised, clinical laboratory experiences in several health-care agencies in central Kentucky. The program prepares students to become registered nurses and also qualifies those students for admission into a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program. Graduates are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN).

Graduates will have also built a professional portfolio that includes documentations of their course accomplishments, a comprehensive resume/organizational entrance plan or an entrepreneur business plan.

This curriculum is designed for students interested in the organizational, management, and commercial aspects of the $40 billion equine industry. Courses such as Management Software and Marketing, the Economics of the Horse Industry, and Equine Law and Taxation address issues impacting the equine industry and offer strategies for establishing equine-related enterprises. Graduates are qualified for positions in a horse farm office or other business which supports the horse industry and can equine law, equine marketing, and equine sport management or in business supporting the horse industry (such as the Jockey Club and the American Saddlebred Association), various equine publications, bloodstock agencies, and tack shop management.

Participants are working adults who can apply the theory of their graduate program to the practice of their current work situation and who can contribute to the team learning environment, with a minimal of three years work experience is required. Participants attend class on the Midway campus once per week and can complete their MBA in two years.
