Overview
The College of Healthcare Professions offers hands-on, accredited career training for the professions in the health care industry. Founded in 1988 to meet the need of the ongoing increase of need in health care, the academy has succeeded in providing an education primarily focused on the essential skills used on the job. Once students have the training they need, career counselors are available to help with the process of finding a job that fits just right.

Program Offered:
  • Health Information TechnologyHealth Information Technology

    Health Information Technology professionals are responsible for accurately managing and organizing patient health data content, in electronic and paper formats. Additionally, Health Information Technology professionals demonstrate many skills that are essential in updating patient records with diagnoses, medical insurance claim documents, and other pertinent health related information. The Health Information Technology online programs combine theory and practice to meet the competencies outlined by industry leading certification guidelines. Your College of Health Care Professions education can prepare you with the skills and competencies to sit for credentials as medical coders.

    Upon completion of our programs, students can demonstrate knowledge and skills that can prepare them for successful careers in fields such as, medical coders, data analyst, health record technicians, ER and Outpatient coder, Claims processor/auditor, HIM Technician and Medical Office Specialist among others. These careers exist in hospitals, physician's offices, clinics, and other medical or mental health facilities, as well as, educational institutions, government agencies, and vendor firms.

    The Health Information Technology Certificate Program is offered 100% Online with the exception of the externship and can be completed in 16 months. Upon completion of the program students can develop hands on coding skills in the Virtual Lab, as well as hands on experience in the field (Externship). Students will also qualify to challenge the Certified Coding Associate Exam (CCA) offered by The American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). Further upon completion of this program students that are interested in continuing their education will have the opportunity to apply to the AAS, Health Information Technology, and may complete the program in 8 months.

  • Health Information Technology ManagementHealth Information Technology Management
    The Health Information Technology Management Associates Degree is offered 100% Online with the exception of the externship and can be completed in 24 months. Upon completion of the program student can develop hands on experience in Medical Records Management, Electronic Health Record, Meaningful Use, and Medical Coding in the Virtual Lab, as well as hands on experience in the field (Externship). Students may also qualify to challenge the CCA Certified Coding Associate Exam (CCA) offered by The American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
